The answer would be the same as in your - Pro Tools will not work properly with Sempron processors.

Indeed, same answer. Pro Tools is not compatible with Sempron processors. You need a different computer.

thanks again for your help guys. i thought this computer was a bit slow to start with so i'm happy to try out a new pc for the mbox 2, i've been nagging my parents for at least a month now and they're going see me half in my new computer (score) i went to a local electronic shop and asked him to look through the DUC pages and he's given me this configuration Pentium 4 2.6ghz 512kb Cache CPU (With Stock Intel Fan) Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard with onboard gigabit lan, firewire, usb and audio, Liteon CDR Burner 1Gig 2x 512mb DDR 400mhz Ram Dual channel Memory Western Digital Raptor 10000rpm 36gig Sata Harddrive ATI Radeon 9600 128mb Graffics Card (Fanless) Cooler Master Cavalier Case Tower with 300W Powersupply and i'll just get a copy of xp no. 2 or 3 if it's out and about. It would be great to hear any feedback on the above specs & if anyone has a similar set up running the mbox 2/ pt 7.3. i don't think it's the fastest or best set up from what i've seen on the forums but i have to get started somewhere thanks again, skipster

i've been told it was a bit old but 4-5 years must seem a lifetime when it comes down to computers hey !! the motherboard is the most important part and it's supposed to be rock solid for pt. although it's not so up to date it seemed reasonable for aust. $260 plus tax. my budget is about $400 and i'll have to get a copy of xp so thats another $100. i know i can't afford the most amazing system but it's just get me started. if you have any other suggestions / idea? skip

You will NEED 2 Hard disks - one for the system and one for audio sessions (not a partition). The computer is dated (~2003) a lifetime when it comes to computers. I wouldn't expect a high plugin count nor the ability to run more than 2-3 Virtual instruments. However you will be able to record/edit (if you get the second HD) and its a start.
