I'm in the middle of an album production right now which likely will be considered "indie" :) And I must admit that Reaper was/is absolutely incredible for the guitar and bass recording/editing until now. Not only slip editing at its best, also the routing and folders and whatnot... I definitely couldn't have done that neither in Logic nor in ProTools at this pace and "oh!-wait-let's-try-this"-creativity flow. Wonderful. Stunning.

I don't really know what I would label my stuff as. It's all just *music*, y'know? Some of it is harder, some of it softer... these industry labels are such a crock of shite. But, since I dig Elliott Smith, I'm willing to go with the label for the sake of the post. I play bass, drums, piano, guitar, etc. and track everything bit by bit. Soundcloud link is in my signature and Reaper suits me just fine for what I do.

I have to agree with others that labeling music as 'Indie' is something I can't relate to. I've been independent since 1984. LOL. I've performed, recorded and produced every kind of music imaginable. From jazz to country, to metal, hard rock and punk. Add in voice-overs and classical music, folk and there you have it. Hell, I even produced a polka band once. That was actually a very interesting project and I learned a lot. I'm a bit new to Reaper but am already in love with it. The features are more than enough to suffice and it runs well on a Windows system. I started out on an old Fostex reel-to-reel and have flowed with the times along the way. I've used every commercial DAW on the market and even ran Pro Tools for almost 10 years. I find it doesn't work for me now though. It's bloated and far too expensive to run and maintain. Reaper is where it's at and a person can record and produce everything and anything on it. If that makes us all 'Indie' artists/producers then so be it. I'm sure there are many more 'Indie' artists than there are commercial ones. Which is a damn good thing in my eyes.
