Could one of you Mac users explain in detail (or post a link to) what "repair permissions" does, how and when to do it. Thanx >OS 10.32<

It's normally recommended that you should do it periodically and after installing any software. Rail

Rail & Jim, Thank you guys. We've had some corrupt install issues of the Drumagog 4.03 update , also some never before seen "access denied" prompt on my HFS+ drive on my home PC. Not sure if they are related, but I was bringing the file in on that drive. Had a mysterious "temp" folder on it too, with 0 byte of content. Have a fresh installer to use, but was advised to "repair permissions" There... happy tooling,

For what it's worth I run a shareware preference utility called Macaroni which does a number of UNIX housecleaning chores including repairing permissions in the background without me having to think about it. STeve
