Unfortunately, the 002 mic preamps don't allow you to turn the gain all the way down - check the specs. Basically, these preamps aren't suited for really loud sources, like drums, without using a pad (attenuator.) Inline attenuators are available.

Hmmmmmm.. that's really dissapointing. Anyway, knowing that. I now have another question. Am I losing bits or anything (I am assuming no) If I am able to squeek out a performace with the gains all the way down. My signal is very near or at unity. This should yield adequate results right? thanks Mach-1

I have other options....like recording into my D8B and HDR then importing. Or going Avalon 737sp to Rosetta A/D to lightpipe in on Digi002. But thats only 2 tracks. Looks like I may just track to the HDR and import. DIGI002 isn't giving me any warm fuzzies yet. mach-1

You probably will never get warm fuzzies out of an OO2 unless you throw it in your aquarium and wait for the algae to grow
