audio problems- is it a codec thing?

I have a lot of footage in DV AVI format and I am trying to burn dvd's. I have tried a few different methods and always encounter the same problem-the video is perfect and the audio is low pitched and slow, but seems to be in sync with the video. The latest app I've tried is taking about 2 minutes of video and burning it to a dvd using Intervideo win cinema. I've tried a few other apps and no matter what I end up with the same problem. I have win xp pro also. I'm not sure if I need some audio codecs or have to manually separate the video file from the audio file and use nero or something like that and do a more complicated proceudre. Need more info or does this ring a bell? I've been searching forums for months.

/edit: I forgot to say: Welcome to the forums! I think we need more information. What are the source and final (i.e. hopefully mpeg-2 video and ac3/mp2 audio) file types and frame rates/frequencies? If Intervideo software does all the video and audio conversion of your dv-avi, you might try following the guides for converting avi to mpeg-2 and <whatever file type your audio is> to mp2 or ac3 @ the doom9.net homepage. If you follow the guides step by step, you'll likely find that your proprietary Intervideo software (and it's subsequent lack of control over the encoding processes) is the issue. Good luck!

I just used Ulead's DVD workshop and it worked fine. I've tried a few other DVAVI to DVD progs, and for my needs, this will do. The video is a bit poorer than I've seen, but I at least have a setup that works, to fall back on. Now I can start experimenting with higher quality, less user friendly apps.
