Hello all, I've recently switched to using pro tools rather than logic (for various reasons i won't get into here). I've dug out my old mbox but i'm getting an annoying high pitched whine from it. Now i've been reading the "Pro Tools 8 Power!" book and it says in there that you have to use the original usb cable otherwise you'll get this whine (something to do with a choke that eliminates RF interference). Well i have no idea where this usb cable is (or even what it looks like). So does anyone know of a decent alternative that will solve the problem?

Hi, I have the same problem with my Mbox 2 mini. I still have found NO solution whatsoever so far, and I use the provided usb cable with the ferrite interference breaker... :( Anyway, I found on Google a solution that might work for you. I advise you to check this thread on Gearslutz: The nitty-gritty of the question is: Mbox family units have the worst isolation ever discovered on an audio interface, so a good USB cable like the Monster USB Ultimate Performance will do the trick... most of the times. Other guys experimented with ground lifts and found their solution. Others simply changed their audio cables and now they lead a happy life. I'm still struggling... ;)

UPDATE: I just bought a Behringer "hum destroyer" (which happens to be a ground loop isolator, and a signal eater presumably, but let's focus on its primary function) from an online store in Italy. I'll share my results ASAP.
